Two dead, five injured in northwest side shooting
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two people are and eight others are hurt following two overnight shootings on Indy’s northwest side.
Those killed have not been identified; of the others, three are in critical condition, two are considered stable, and three are in unknown conditions.
5600 block of Georgetown Road
The first shooting happened around 10:40 p.m. Saturday.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Cross Creek Shopping Center in the 5600 block of Georgetown Road to investigate a person shot.
There, they found three victims with gunshot wounds, who were taken to hospitals in unknown condition.
IMPD says at least one person has been detained, but it was unclear if they were arrested or if the shooting occurred inside a business.
6800 block of Shore Terrace
IMPD responded to the second shooting in the 6800 block of Shore Terrace around 2:12 a.m., first locating five people suffering gunshot wounds.
That address is in a business area right off West 38th Street and Eagle Creek Parkway, just west of I-465.
Two victims died at the scene, while three others were rushed to nearby hospitals.
Later, IMPD received reports of two other shooting victims from the Shore Terrance scene: One who arrived at a hospital and another who walked into an area fire station.
Detectives believe some sort of disturbance broke out before the shooting, but they have not released any suspect information.
Anyone with information on the Shore Terrace shooting was asked to contact Det. Christopher Winter at the IMPD Homicide Office at 317-327-3475 or by email at Christopher.Winter@indy.gov.
This is a developing story.
