INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that caused a car to crash into a building on Indy’s east side earlier this year.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, on April 25, officers responded just after midnight to the area of East 10th Street and Emerson Avenue after a truck crashed into a building.
The truck had gone so far into the building that Indianapolis Fire Department crews had to place support poles before they could safely reach the two people inside, police said.
The driver, a 29-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 15-year-old backseat passenger was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later stabilized.
During the investigation, police discovered the driver had been shot.
Homicide detectives took over the case, and the coroner later ruled the death a homicide. A firearm, video footage, and a large amount of cash were recovered at the scene.
Detectives identified the teen backseat passenger as the suspected shooter.
A warrant was issued charging him with reckless homicide, and on August 7, 2026, IMPD’s Violent Crimes Unit located and arrested him.
