Wrong-way driver causes fatal accident on I-70 EB between Belmont Avenue, Morris Street

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A wrong-way driver on Interstate 70 led to a fatal accident early Monday, according to Indiana State Police.

The accident took place on I-70 eastbound near the 77.6-mile marker just after 5 a.m. Monday morning.

Indiana State Police told News 8 that two vehicles were involved, including the wrong-way driver. They did not say how many people were hurt or identify who died.

All lanes of I-70 eastbound were closed between West Morris Street and Belmont Avenue.

The entrance ramp to I-70 eastbound from Holt Road was expected to be closed for at least four hours.
