Woman with history of ‘animal crush videos’ sentenced again for abusing a dozen pets

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A Kokomo woman with a history of torturing and killing animals was found with a van full of emaciated pets in June. Now, she’s being sent back to federal prison for a year and a half after she violated her supervised release for a previous animal abuse conviction.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced Monday morning that 24-year-old Krystal Scott, after pleading guilty, was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

News 8 reported in June that Scott was caught in a Hardee’s parking lot on the east side of Indianapolis with a U-Haul van that reeked of “dead animals,” an Indianapolis Animal Care Services report said. Inside was 12 dogs and cats, each extremely dehydrated and starving, however, investigators said there were no dead animals in the van.

After the animals were rescued, Scott was given only 12 violations–each with a minimum $25 fine.

In early July, a Marion County court issued an arrest warrant for Scott.

Days later, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department sent out a call for the public’s help in their investigation against Scott’s animal abuse. They asked for help because Scott had a history of posing under different aliases, such as “Teal Serain,” and responding to social media posts claiming that missing animals were hers.

A search of Scott’s phone and Facebook account “showed that she was a member of at least 12 pet adoption groups online, and had been selling or attempting to sell pelts that she claimed were from exotic animals,” the DOJ’s press release read.
