TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WISH) — A woman died and a man was critical injured after being shot in the parking lot of a Vigo County grocery on Thursday afternoon, police said.
Vigo County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called at 12:30 p.m. Thursday to the Kroger store at 4714 S. U.S. 41. That’s in the Wabash Valley Plaza south of Springhill Drive.
The man and woman were found inside a vehicle, the sheriff’s office said in a social media post made about five hours after deputies were called.
A girl also found in the vehicle was not injured.
Investigators did not believe the shooting represented a continuing threat to public safety, Sheriff Derek Fell said in the post.
Vigo County, with 106,000 residents, is about a 75-minute drive southwest of downtown Indianapolis.
