INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — It’s a milestone that hasn’t been hit in 10 years.
The Indiana Fever are four games above .500 for the first time since the 2015 season thanks to the 10-point win over this year’s No. 1 overall draft pick Paige Bueckers and her Dallas Wings Friday night.
The Fever made it to the WNBA Finals that 2015 season, ultimately losing to the Minnesota Lynx in the five-game series.
With two-time All-Star Caitlin Clark still sidelined with a right groin injury, four different Fever players hit double digits to get Indiana its fourth-straight win — the longest win streak of the season.
Led by Kelsey Mitchell’s 23 points, the Fever controlled the game in Dallas from the jump, leading by as many as 13 points in the third quarter. Aliyah Boston and Natasha Howard both finished with double-doubles, while Aari McDonald stepping in to a starting role with Clark out made four threes for a 15-point game.
“This is a group that’s been resilient all season long, and I think that we have such quality depth that we can rely on one another and rely on one another in certain moments,” head coach Stephanie White said. “I’m proud of them for continuing to stack days. We’ve got a ways to go, but it’s nice to start this road trip off with a win.”
The Fever have found their stride at just the right time. The win in Dallas starts off a four-game West Coast swing on the right foot and also gets the Fever within a game-and-a-half of second place in the WNBA standings. Currently, the Fever are fifth behind the Lynx, New York Liberty, Atlanta Dream and Phoenix Mercury.
Next stop on the road trip is Seattle. The Fever face the Storm for a Sunday afternoon match-up that tips off at 3 p.m. Eastern.
