NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — In an event famed for food, fun, and the talents of young people, the venue itself is also playing a starring role this year – as you’ll see in the July 17 edition of WISH-TV’s Wish You Were Here community tour.

The Hamilton County 4H Fairgrounds is going through a multi-million dollar revamp, and the first new building is ready for its television debut.

“The campus is 44 acres … and we have a lot of new projects and new buildings going up. We have a new Bicentennial Pavilion that will be debuting here soon,” Jane Sipe from Hamilton County Extension said on WISH-TV’s Daybreak. “On Thursday, you’ll get a tour of that building!”

Sipe is enthusiastic about the more traditional fair offerings, too. When asked about her favorite part of the fair, she immediately points to the way it brings all ages together.

“The great thing is that you will see a multi-generational impact,” she says. “You see youth displaying their projects, performing whatever they may be doing at the fair, but they also have had helpers with their projects … the kids, the parents, the grandparents, the aunts, the uncles, the great aunts, and so on. So it’s really a great, that’s my favorite part about the fair.”

We also asked Sipe to pick a few favorites from the menu. She gleefully took liberties with the word “few.”

“Corn on the cob, obviously one of the best. Cobbler, one of the best. There’s elephant ears by our Silvernotes. There’s also pizza, walking tacos, all the things that you can have,” she listed, then paused only briefly. “There’s the Junior Leader Shack that has the pizza and the sodas. Everything is really good. A highlight is our Extension Homemakers kitchen is wonderful. They have chicken and noodles, beef and noodles, sloppy joes, everything that you want!”

To get a virtual taste of it all, watch Wish You Were Here, Thursday July 17 in all of the afternoon and early evening newscasts on WISH-TV.

To go to the fair in person, visit the Hamilton County 4H fairgrounds from July 17-21. There is no charge to go.
