Westfield Wish You Were Here preview
WESTFIELD (Ind.) — The WISH-TV team should probably bring shopping bags, baskets, and extra spending loot when we visit Westfield on Thursday for this week’s installment of WISH You Were Here.
Dozens of vendors at the Westfield Farmers Market are ready and eager to welcome all of central Indiana for a virtual visit through our cameras.
“The Farmers Market is on Thursdays, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Grand Junction Plaza, which is right in the heart of downtown,” market manager Molly O’Connor said during a visit to Daybreak. “We’ve got around 60 vendors coming to us each week selling all kinds of stuff. We’ve got food trucks, live music, and free kids activities, so it really is a great way for people to come spend their evenings with us.”
The market runs each Thursday through mid-September, and it will double as the main base of News 8’s operations on Thursday afternoon.
“We hope people do come to shop,” said O’Connor. “We’ve got people selling baked goods, lots of farmers selling fresh produce, and handmade goods.”
For our coverage, Phil Sanchez, Marlee Thomas, Colin Baillie and the rest of our team will meet with Westfield’s movers, shakers, neighbors, developers, dreamers, and more – to showcase what makes the community shine.
Westfield is in the middle of a multi-year building boom that is transforming what was a tiny town into a major player in the Indianapolis metropolitan community.
By now, most are familiar with the massive athletic complex called Grand Park, which covers hundreds of acres west of U.S. 31, but Grand Junction Plaza – east of U.S. 31 – is the city’s newest gem.
“It’s got a park, a big plaza where we hold a lot of our events. It’s got a stage where we hold all of our concerts and then lots of new restaurants coming to the area,” explained O’Connor.
