INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana’s Republican lawmakers could be trading the statehouse for the White House.
The legislators have been invited to Washington, D.C. on Aug. 26 to “meet with senior White House officials to discuss President Trump’s agenda,” the Senate Majority Communications Office confirmed to I-Team 8’s Kyla Russell.
The White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs sent the invitation July 28, more than a week before Vice President J.D. Vance visited the statehouse to discuss redistricting with Gov. Mike Braun and other Republican state law makers.
“This is consistent with the Trump Administration inviting several other states out to D.C. for the same purpose. Redistricting was not listed as a topic of discussion in the invitation,” the Senate Majority Communications Office told Russell by email.
News of the invitation was confirmed by staffers on the House Majority side.
Gov. Braun says he’s discussing redistricting efforts with state GOP leaders.
