INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two 17-year-olds were arrested within the last week for their roles in two aggravated assaults that left two people shot and injured.
The first shooting took place sometime on June 25. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 500 block of Eugene Street just south of Crown Hill Cemetery to investigate a person shot incident.
When they arrived, they found a person suffering from a gunshot wound, who was soon rushed to a hospital. IMPD says that the victim is currently in stable condition.
Investigators continued their search for suspects, and on July 2, they identified the teen as a suspect. With the help of U.S. Marshals, officers found the teen and took them into custody. The gun believed to be used in the robbery was found during the arrest.
The second shooting happened on Sunday. Police were dispatched to a home in the 8300 block of Southern Spring Drive on the southeast side after a 911 caller reported a person shot. That neighborhood is near the intersection of East Stop 11 Road and South Arlington Avenue near Franciscan Health.
There, they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
Aggravated assault detectives arrived at the scene, canvassing the area for footage and witnesses. Eventually, they identified both a suspect and the vehicle used in the attack.
Later, officers found the suspect vehicle and surrounded a home on the southwest side. After making announcements, the 17-year-old suspect exited and was arrested.
Once they obtained a search warrant for the car and home, police found ammunition and a semi-automatic handgun.
Both teens face charges for their roles. Those are listed below:
500 block of Eugene Street

- Criminal recklessness with a dangerous weapon

- Possession of a firearm by a person with a prior conviction
8300 block of Southern Spring Drive

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office would decide final charges. It was unclear if either teen would be charged as an adult.
