INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A hot, stuffy weekend is ahead with chances for showers and storms at times. We will even see the potential for our hottest air of the year this weekend into early next week.

Friday night: Mostly clear and warm tonight with lows in the low 70s.

Saturday: Expect a hotter, sweltering, day as we track an increase in rain/storm chances.

We could have a decaying complex of showers make it into northern IN to start Saturday. Additional scattered development is possible across central IN by Saturday afternoon and night with an isolated strong-severe wind/hail threat. Best chance/highest coverage is expected to be north of Indy for now.

Highs in the low to mid 90s with peak heat indices in the triple digits for those who don’t see rain and/or much cloud cover.

Sunday: Another sweltering day is ahead for Sunday with highs in the mid 90s and triple digit heat indices. We look to even challenge our hottest day of 2025 in which it is 95 from July 29th in Indy. Sunday’s rain/storm chance and placement hinges on any Saturday night development and remnant boundaries. Regardless, isolated stronger-severe winds will be possible into Sunday.

7-Day Forecast: It will stay very hot through Monday and Tuesday with highs approaching the low to mid 90s. Bigger changes look to arrive as early as midweek next week. There’s still some uncertainty on the speed of the hot dome’s exit from our region and how far west Hurricane Erin gets. One thing to note is that the muggy meter is looking like it will not drop immediately, but highs do fall back into the low to mid 80s starting Wednesday. It may not be until closer to next weekend when humid air finally leaves our area.
