NORTH TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WISH) — A man and his sister were found dead Wednesday in a Vigo County residential area in what investigators have determined was a murder-suicide.
Keith Russell Chaney, 59, fatally shot his sister, Kathy Ann Cunning, 63, before taking his own life, the Vigo County sheriff said Friday in a social media post.
The incident happened on Shabur Avenue in Otter Creek Township.
The initial call to authorities at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday was reported as a possible cardiac arrest.
Vigo County Sheriff Derek Fell expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
Vigo County, with 106,000 residents, is about a 75-minute drive southwest of downtown Indianapolis.
