Shake Up gives customers the chance to take state fair favorites home
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Shake Up, a canned cocktail company, has introduced a new drink called Pineapple Whip, exclusively available at the Indiana State Fair this year.
Shake Up produces its drinks locally at the Indiana State Fair, where they have a unique setup with a distillery inside the fairgrounds. The company previously gained popularity with its lemon Shake Up can cocktail, which helped them expand regionally.
“We use all real stuff,” Co-Founder Dan Fahrner said. “So we use real lemon in here, real pineapple and coconut in the pineapple whip, and it tastes like a really balanced, flavorful cocktail.”
Fahrner, who co-founded Shake Up with his wife Jamie, shared that the idea for the business came naturally, as Jamie grew up selling barbecue and drinking lemon Shake Ups at county fairs. The company has expanded its distribution to Illinois and Wisconsin, although the Indiana State Fair remains their primary market.
Fahrner described the fair as a great success this year, with good weather and high attendance, contributing to a lively atmosphere where their drinks were well received.
Shake Up’s products, excluding the Pineapple Whip, are available at various retailers such as Kroger, Total Wine, Big Red, and Crown Liquors across Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin.
