INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A female pedestrian died Friday night after colliding with an IndyGo bus on North Post Road, police said.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was called to a crash with serious bodily injury about 8:45 p.m. Friday in the 3800 block of North Post Road. It’s just north of East 38th Street in an area with gas stations and restaurants.
Officers from the department’s East District found the woman in the road, and Indianapolis EMS took her to a local hospital in critical condition, where she later died from her injuries.
IMPD Capt. Don Weilhammer said, “Initial investigation, subject to change, shows that the adult female actually ran into the side of the bus just north of the bus stop here. Obviously, they are trying to obtain video from IndyGo. IndyGo does have video on sides and the front of the bus, but we have to get a subpoena to actually get a copy of the video.
“The bus driver did not see it, just heard it.
“There was evidence on the bus
An IndyGo spokeswoman referred any comment to IMPD.
IMPD began an investigation into the crash to learn what happened.
No further details regarding the driver of the bus or the identity of the pedestrian have been released.
