Overnight shootings leave 1 dead, 2 wounded
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A pair of overnight shootings left one person dead and two others wounded, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said Friday.
Around 1:30 a.m., police were called to a shooting on Meadowlark Drive near Pendleton Park and North Franklin Road on the city’s far east side.
Officers arrived and found a man in the road. He died at the scene. He was later identified as 25-year-old Paul Thompson III.
IMPD says a witness told investigators they heard a car speed away from the scene, but no suspects were found.
Police were also investigating a shooting that happened about an hour earlier on the city’s east side.
Just before 12:30 a.m., IMPD officers found a wounded woman near intersection of East Washington Street and Gladstone Avenue in the Tuxedo Park neighborhood.
IMPD says the woman described the shooter before she was taken to the hospital. Investigators followed a trail of blood at the scene and found a man with a gun who was also wounded.
The woman was said to be stable at a local hospital, while the man was listed in critical condition.
Police have not said how the two victims are connected, if the man was shooter, or what led to the gunfire.
Anyone with information was asked to contact IMPD or Crime Stoppers.
