INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers arrested a 53-year-old man for his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run accident that left a bicyclist in critical condition.
On June 27, IMPD East District responded to reports of a personal injury hit-and-run crash involving a bicyclist in the 3600 block of East Washington Street. Officers arrived and found the bicyclist had been struck by a vehicle, which then fled the scene without stopping to provide information or assistance.
The bicyclist was taken in critical condition to a local hospital by Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services medics
IMPD hit-and-run detectives arrived and began their investigation. Detectives collected parts from the striking vehicle and canvassed the area for video surveillance. Using various investigative techniques, they identified the suspect as 53-year-old Steven Frazier. Detectives requested and were granted a warrant for Frazier’s arrest.
On Wednesday, IMPD North District officers conducted a warrant check in the 1300 block of North Delaware Street for Frazier. Officers found Frazier and arrested him for the active warrant.
Frazier was preliminarily charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in catastrophic injury, obstruction of justice, and criminal mischief.
