Looking ahead to the 15th annual IU Health Momentum Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A three-day bike festival is returning to downtown Indianapolis for its 15th year. Indiana University Health’s Momentum Indy hits the pavement starting on Thursday, July 10.

This year’s festival is expanding thanks to a partnership with Marian University. There will be a third day of the festival at the Indy Cycloplex, an Indianapolis racetrack for cyclists, on Sunday, July 13.

In a press release, Momentum Indy Founder and Executive Director Jennifer Cvar says it will be full of racing, family activities, and high energy rolling through the heart of downtown Indianapolis.

“This weekend brings the entire community together—from elite cyclists to kids just learning to ride,” Cvar said. “Whether you’re on two wheels or cheering from the sidelines, there’s something for everyone.

Over the years, Momentum Indy has grown, becoming a destination for professional and amateur cyclists from around the world.

It’s free to attend. The festival will include food trucks and live music.

2025 Momentum Indy Highlights

IU Health Momentum Indy will kick off with the annual Shake Out Ride with Pros & Divas on Thursday. Racing starts Friday with the Pro and Amateur Criterium Races on Massachusetts Avenue from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Then on Saturday, the course will shift just north of Monument Circle to the blocks surrounding University Park. The Indy Criterium rolls from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Finally, the inaugural “Parkside Throwdown” will round out the racing at the Indy Cycloplex. Cyclists will compete for $37,000 in cash this weekend.

It’s not all about the professionals, though. Saturday will also feature the Honor Major Taylor Fondo — a memorial ride for Indianapolis native and cycling champion Marshall “Major” Taylor.
