Jeffersonville PD seeks help gathering info on fatal 8th Street hit-and-run

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — The Jeffersonville Police Department is seeking the public’s help gathering information on a fatal hit-and-run that happened early Sunday morning.

According to a post on Facebook, officers were called to the 1800 block of 8th Street just before 3 a.m. to investigate a hit-and-run incident between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

That address is in a residential area near a small gas station, a few churches, and a bus stop on the east side of Jeffersonville.

The pedestrian, an unidentified man, died at the scene.

Police say the driver and the vehicle responsible have been identified, and they are “actively working all available leads related to this incident.”

Investigators also add the vehicle may also have front end damage.

Anyone with information on the hit-and-run was asked to contact the Jeffersonville Police Department at 812-285-6535 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 812-218-TIPS (8477).
