Indy transforms streets for WNBA All-Star weekend

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis is hosting a series of basketball-themed events as it prepares to host the WNBA All-Star Game, proudly putting the Hoosiers’ deep-rooted passion for the sport on display.

The WNBA All-Star Weekend provides fans with an opportunity to engage with basketball culture through a range of activities beyond the game itself. Indianapolis, renowned for its rich basketball history, offers unique experiences, including shooting hoops on Monument Circle and exploring the Hoops and Highlights Trail.

“Indy does basketball better than anywhere else,” CEO of Pacers Sports & Entertainment Mel Raines said. “To come down and shoot a hoop on Monument Circle, which you can’t do every day, is fantastic.”

Susan Baughman, lead event director of the WNBA All-Star Host Committee 2025, emphasized the diverse offerings for fans, stating, “We have a wonderful women’s fan base here for basketball, but people are coming from all over the world to see the best stars in the WNBA play here.”

The city has organized various activities to enhance the fan experience, including photo opportunities, local performances, and DJ sets at popular locations. The Hoops and Highlights Trail celebrates Indianapolis’s legacy as the basketball capital of the nation, featuring women-led panel discussions and a sneaker art showcase. Fans can also participate in WNBA Live at the Indianapolis Convention Center, which offers interactive experiences throughout the weekend.

Fever Fest at the White River State Park’s Everwise Amphitheater promises a mix of comedy and music entertainment.

The success of the weekend relies on the hard work from 1,500 volunteers, who are ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for everyone. “Thank a volunteer if you see them,” Baughman said.

As Indianapolis hosts the WNBA All-Star Game, the city is not only celebrating its basketball heritage but also boosting tourism and community pride through a series of engaging events. The weekend promises to be a memorable experience for fans and visitors alike.
