INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Public Library is bringing back a free program to get kids interested in reading, even if they can’t visit a local library branch.
Reading Ready Time returns Wednesday, Aug. 20.
It’s a free, educational resource designed for children ages 3-6, taking kids through a virtual library visit. The event description invites people to join from home to “sing along, listen to a story, see new places, and meet amazing people.”
The goal, the library says, is helping children develop into lifelong readers.
New installments of Reading Ready Time are released every Wednesday at 10 a.m., until Nov. 5. A full schedule can be found here.
Research has shown reading together with infants and young children not only creates stronger bonds with caregivers, but improves cognitive, emotional, and language development according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.
