MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) — A short pursuit ended in a crash and the arrest of a 25-year-old man from Plainfield Saturday, according to Indiana State Police (ISP) in a Monday news release.
At 5 p.m. Saturday, an ISP trooper was patrolling on State Road 67 near Pugsley Road when he observed a white sedan traveling southbound noticeably faster than the posted speed limit.
The trooper initiated a traffic stop by activating his emergency lights. The vehicle immediately accelerated, initiating a pursuit. The chase continued south on State Road 67 before the suspect turned north onto County Road 800 West toward Daleville. The vehicle attempted to enter Interstate 69 southbound, but lost control, leaving the roadway and crashing into a ditch.
A high-risk traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was taken into custody without incident. The suspect driver was identified as Jesse Leroy Goble, 25, of Plainfield. Goble was transported to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital for evaluation, where he was medically cleared.
Further investigation revealed that Goble had active warrants out of another county. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of drug paraphernalia.
Goble was transported to the Delaware County Jail, where he is being preliminarily charged with resisting law enforcement, operating a vehicle while intoxicated – endangering, reckless driving, driving while suspected – prior, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of paraphernalia.
