Hoosiers head coach Teri Moren returns to USA Basketball as head coach

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — Hoosiers head coach Teri Moren will once again be sporting the red, white and blue this summer as she returns to USA Basketball.

IU’s women’s basketball’s longtime head coach will lead the 2025 U19 Women’s National team this July. This will be Moren’s fourth time on the USA Basketball coaching staff.

“It is an honor to be leading the 2025 USA Basketball Women’s U19 National Team along with Coach Ivey and Coach Fernandez,” Moren said in a press release. “I am grateful to represent our country on the international stage and look forward to the opportunity to once again pursue a gold medal for our nation.”

Moren led the U19 team to gold last year as head coach. Previously, she was an assistant coach for the same team playing in the FIBA World Cup in 2023 and an assistant for the U18 team in the Women’s Americas Championship the year before.

This coming college basketball season will be Moren’s 12th in as head coach of the Hoosier ladies in Bloomington. She’s the program’s all-time winningest coach and has led the Hoosiers to the NCAA Tournament seven times. That includes three Sweet Sixteens and one trip to the Elite Eight in 2021. Under her coaching, the Hoosiers have had 10 straight 20-win seasons.

Moren’s been named the Big Ten Coach of the Year twice in 2016 and 2023. That 2023 season, she was also given the Associated Press National Coach of the Year award.

A familiar face to basketball fans in the state will join Moren on the bench. Notre Dame’s head women’s basketball coach Niele Ivey will be one of Moren’s assistants, along with South Florida’s Jose Fernandez.

Moren and her team will battle in the FIBA Women’s World Cup from July 12-20. The games all take place in Brno, Czech Republic.
