Hendricks Live! transforms Plainfield with arts and entertainment

PLAINFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — Hendricks Live! is transforming Plainfield by bringing immense talent and dreams to the community just over a year after opening its doors.

Located on Main Street, Hendricks Live! offers a reliable facility for local, regional, and national arts and entertainment, advancing their programs and reaching new heights in artistic endeavors.

“One of the main reasons that this space was built was to provide a home for local artists performing and visual artists to provide them with a home to elevate their work,” said Chris Petrelli, executive director of Hendricks Live!

Hendricks Live! is home to local art organizations like the Hendricks Symphony, The Hendricks Civic Theatre, and the Children’s Ballet, and partners with the Indy Ballet and the Indy Chamber Orchestra.

Plainfield art organizations previously operated in schools, churches, and auditoriums, which served the community’s needs but lacked a reliable facility.

Hendricks Live! also produces a series of touring shows showcasing a diverse range of national artists, including comedy performances, classic rock concerts, tribute bands, and many other genres. Upcoming events include the Hendricks Civic Theatre’s production of “Bye Bye Birdie,” a Carol King tribute called “Tapestry” on July 25, and a concert by the classic rock band Sister Hazel on Aug. 23.

As part of Plainfield’s broader revitalization plan, Hendricks Live! aims to create a vibrant downtown destination in Plainfield, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the area’s unique culture. To date, Hendricks Live! has attracted over 40,000 visitors from 86 counties and 36 states in its first year, proving to be a destination attraction for people outside Plainfield.

For a town on the rise, Hendricks Live! is more than just a stage; it’s a statement that the arts belong in Plainfield.
