Marcus’ 4 a.m. Wednesday forecast
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Spotty storms are possible in the eastern portions of the state later this afternoon.
Today:
We’re starting the day mildly with clear skies and slightly more humid conditions.
We’re monitoring for shallow areas of fog this morning. While major problems for the morning commute are not expected, isolated areas of dense fog could persist through daybreak.
Otherwise, expect mostly sunny skies with reasonable temperatures and elevated humidity. A few pop-up storms may occur this afternoon in the eastern portions of the state.
High temperatures will reach the mid-80s.
Tonight:
Quiet, clear, mild, and muggy conditions are expected overnight with a few areas of fog. Lows will drop to the mid-60s.
Late week heat:
The end of the week and the weekend will be hot and humid as a heat dome begins to build in the southern portions of the United States. While this area of high pressure may not be as strong as what we experienced over the past couple of weeks, it should push temperatures close to 90°F and keep precipitation at bay from Thursday through the end of the weekend.
Additionally, humidity will increase, with dew points rising into the upper 60s and lower 70s as we move into the weekend.
This will likely push heat indices into the mid to upper 90s for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
7 day forecast:
The pattern will remain hot and humid early next week but should become more active as a trough begins to move across the eastern portions of the country. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible on Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the upper 80s.
The 8- to 14-day outlook also shows strong signals of above-average temperatures as we move into the middle of the month.
