WISH You Were Here is coming to Greenfield
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Greenfield’s Friday night concert series Entertainment at Depot Street Park returns this week with a Beatles tribute, “Hard Day’s Night”, and Wish You Were Here will be on-site to cover the fun.
Julie Patterson, Greenfield’s assistant director of parks and recreation and former WISH-TV traffic anchor, welcomed viewers back to the community event. “We’re very proud of our Friday night concerts. Our partners at GBC Bank help provide these concerts free to the public, and this is our final show of the season. We’d love for everyone to come out,” Patterson said.
The concerts offer something for everyone, she added. “We’ve had Jimmy Buffett, country music, a Garth Brooks tribute. First of all, the park itself is beautiful, and second, it’s free. You just bring your lawn chair and enjoy.” Some attendees even set their chairs as early as 7 a.m., she said.
Depot Street Park also serves as a hub for Greenfield’s bike share program and the 5.5-mile Pennsy Trail, connecting multiple parks. Patterson encouraged residents to take advantage of the outdoor opportunities. “Whether you’re walking, biking, or just enjoying the park, there’s something for everyone,” she said.
Greenfield celebrates poet James Whitcomb Riley with Riley Days each fall, and this year Riley Park turns 100. The city will mark the milestone with a Ferris wheel, giveaways, and festival celebrations.
Downtown Greenfield offers attractions year-round, including Blues and Brews, a December murder mystery, and Baker’s Rainbow Bridge at Beckenhold Park, where visitors can honor their pets.
The WISH-TV team will be on-site Friday, Aug. 22, from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at Depot Street Park for Wish You Were Here. Guests can meet the crew, enjoy live music, and experience the park firsthand. The event will also be streamed live on WISH-TV and online at wishtv.com.
