Gen Con sets new attendance record
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Gen Con 2025 drew a record crowd of gamers to downtown Indianapolis, organizers said Monday.
More than 72,000 people attended the sold-out tabletop gaming convention, which wrapped up Sunday at the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium.
Over 71,000 people attended last year’s event.
During the four days of the convention, attendees played board and card games, browsed and shopped an exhibit hall with over 575 vendors, and enjoyed film screenings, artist appearances, and the annual Gen Con Costume Contest.
“We are grateful for the incredible support of Indianapolis,” Gen Con President David Hoppe said. “The warm and welcoming atmosphere created when the tabletop gaming community meets Hoosier hospitality is essential to making The Best Four Days in Gaming come to life each summer.”
The convention has been held in Indianapolis since 2003.
Gen Con will return to Indy from July 30 – Aug. 2, 2026, and is set to return each year through 2030.
Badges for next year’s convention will go on sale in early 2026 on the convention’s website.
Chris Gahl, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Visit Indy, says Gen Con 2025 brought around $82 million to the city.
