WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) — Former Purdue star Zach Edey was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.
He received the fourth most votes, and was listed on all 100 ballots, receiving 73 first team votes and 27 second team votes.
He averaged 9.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocked shots per game in his rookie year with the Memphis Grizzlies. Edey ranked first among rookies in rebounds and third in blocks. He shot 58% from the field and 34.6% from three.
Edey played in 66 games, starting 55 for the Grizzlies. He also started all four playoff games for the Grizzlies, averaging 6.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game.
Edey is joined on the All-Rookie First Team by Stephon Castle (Spurs), Zaccharie Risacher (Hawks), Jaylen Wells (Grizzlies) and Alex Sarr (Wizards).
Edey was the National Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons at Purdue. He helped lead the Boilermakers to 63 wins in his final two years in West Lafayette, including a trip to the National Championship game in 2024. He is Purdue’s all-time leading scorer (2,516 points) and all-time leading rebounder (1,321 rebounds).
