May 21 | Evening Forecast with Meteorologist Drew Narsutis
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We’re eyeing a below-normal temperature pattern that looks to extend into Indy 500 race weekend. There are also rain chances into Thursday and on race day Sunday.
Wednesday night: A few on-and-off showers may linger with winds staying breezy at times. Lows will fall into the upper 40s.
Thursday: A mere copycat of Wednesday’s forecast plays out as the low-pressure system just to our northeast pivots more scattered showers into our area. Cloud cover will also be extensive for much of the day until mainly after sunset.
Some locations may not even get out of the 50s in which we’ll be running from 15-20 degrees cooler than normal. Winds will also remain breezy with gusts from 20-30 mph.
Friday: We’ll see brighter skies emerge to end the workweek with a slight temperature rebound. For those going to Carb Day at Friday afternoon at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, temperatures will hover in the low to mid 60s, and that is what our highs will be. It will also be a little breezy, too.
7-Day Forecast: After Friday’s temperature bounce back, highs look to stall out in the upper 60s Saturday and Sunday. Legends Day on Saturday is set to be dry with increasing cloud cover. Indy 500 race day on Sunday does feature a rain chance, but, at this time, much of the activity is expected to be south of Indianapolis. We’ll watch how this system develops out in the plains on Saturday and evolves into Sunday.
