Soundsport International Music and Food Festival happening today
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Drum Corps International (DCI) World Championship Finals are happening inside Lucas Oil Stadium and around it, but it’s not alone. Just outside of Lucas Oil Stadium is a food festival along south street called SoundSport International Music and Food Festival, which runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There will be 24 musical ensembles, including a drumline battle competition and the Indiana High School Band Showcase.
“We’re super excited to have our world championships here at Lucas Oil Stadium tonight, but before that we have the International Music and Food Festival going on free to the public to come check out,” Nathan Boudreaux, CEO of DCI, said.
Boudreaux talks about how big of a day today is for all that are performing.
“For our performers, this is the Super Bowl for marching music. DCI is marching music’s major league, and tonight, they’ll be the top 12 ensembles in the world performing,” Boudreaux said.
Boudreaux talked about what this means to host such a massive event in downtown Indianapolis.
“We’re based here in Indianapolis, but there’s chorus from all over the country. We have a great relationship with Visit Indy and the stadium here, and we’ve got tons of fans in town. We’re hoping to get 23,000 tonight, so a lot of stuff going on for sure,” Boudreaux said.
