- The Johnson County coroner says a woman found dead alongside her child in Greenwood was expecting, and was well into her pregnancy. Police found the bodies of Karon Clay and 3-year-old Karter Klay Monday. Authorities are not yet saying anything about how they died, but their landlord tells us the back door glass was shattered, and there was a large amount of blood in the home.
- Several shootings around Indianapolis overnight and early this morning have left people wounded. Scenes include Washington and Belmont, 18th & Kessler, 16th & Capitol, and Michigan Street and Holt Road.
- The House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed the Justice Department for files in the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking investigation. The panel also wants depostions from former President Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and eight former top law enforcement officials. For its part, the Justice Department is asking the court to unseal grand jury transcripts in the case, but Epstein’s ex-girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, wants them kept secret. The testimony was key in the charges that led to her conviction.
- The Department of Health and Human Services plans to cancel contracts and pull funding for some vaccines in development for viruses like COVID-19 and the flu. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced Tuesday that the government will halt $500-million worth of projects that use mRNA technology.
- The NFL is banning the use of smelling salts during games, citing safety concerns and the potential to mask concussion symptoms. The league sent a memo to teams on Tuesday explaining the decision. The NFL Head, Neck, and Spine Committee recommended the ban.
- The Indiana Fever’s five game winning streak is snapped. They lost to the Sparks in Los Angeles last night, 100-91. The result wasted a big night from Kelsey Mitchell, who poured in 34 points. Indiana plays the Mercury in Phoenix tomorrow.
