The ‘boss ladies’ running the WNBA All-Star Weekend
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis is getting ready to host the WNBA All-Star Game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on July 19, drawing fans and prominent figures in women’s sports to the city.
The weekend event will feature 35 influential female leaders in the sports industry, referred to as BOSS ladies — which stands for bosses, owners, spenders, and storytellers — who will engage in various activities designed to showcase Indianapolis as a hub for women in sports.
Ivory Salmon, a community volunteer and member of the host committee, expressed her excitement about the event, stating, “We really want to launch Indy as the Mecca for women in sports. What we’re doing here is pretty iconic.”
The BOSS ladies will have the opportunity to visit the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway and participate in a unique hot lap experience. They will also attend cocktail receptions and networking events. The guests will have the opportunity to participate in a ‘starry three-point shoot around,’ which is one of the activities planned for them.
Patty Phillips from Women Leaders in Sports will be a guest speaker, discussing strategies for scaling businesses and growing the brand of women in sports.
The event aims to foster community engagement and highlight the economic impact of women in sports, with hopes that similar initiatives will be replicated across the country.
