Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen charged with OWI

INDIANAPOLIS — Wide receiver Keenan Allen has been formally charged for drunk driving just weeks after signing with the Indianapolis Colts.

Allen, 34, is charged with operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration of .15 or more and operating a vehicle while intoxicated — both misdemeanors.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police say Allen was stopped in the 100 block of South Meridian Street in a no-parking zone just after 1 a.m. on Aug. 30.

According to online court records, Allen paid a $500 bond to be released from jail.

His initial hearing scheduled for Sept.16 was cancelled. An attorney conference is now set for October 26 at 8:30 a.m.

The Colts released a statement on Aug. 31 saying: “We are aware of the incident involving Keenan Allen last night. We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time.”
