Marcus’ 4 a.m. Friday forecast
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Spring-like temperatures in the 60s through Saturday before a weather shift brings a chance of snow Sunday night and a heavy rain threat late next week.
Mild end to February:
Highs on Friday and Saturday are expected to reach the upper 50s to low 60s, a temperature range more typical of early April than late February.

Wind gusts between 30 and 35 mph are possible Friday afternoon, particularly in the northwest portions of the state.

Sharply colder open to March:
A quick-moving wave late Saturday night could bring spotty light snow or a rain-and-snow mix to some areas. Not much moisture with this system and do not anticipate any travel impacts. Many parts of central Indiana may not see any precipitation during this initial wave.
Conditions will turn colder on Sunday, with high temperatures expected to reach only the upper 30s or low 40s. A more organized weather system is forecast to develop along a stalled boundary late Sunday into Monday. While dry air may initially delay the onset of precipitation, snow is expected to fill in from the southwest to the northeast across much of central Indiana. Individuals south of the boundary may see a rain-and-snow mix or other mixed precipitation.

Current weather guidance indicates the potential for a couple inches of snow accumulation in parts of the region by Monday morning. However, forecasters note that the exact placement and final totals of the snow remain uncertain as the system develops. Confidence is gradually building that at least some accumulation will occur across the central part of the state.

Active and warmer next week:
A significant pattern change is signaled for late next week as a trough develops over the Western United States and a ridge forms over the East. This setup is expected to bring a strong southwest flow and high moisture levels into the Ohio Valley. Data from the Global Ensemble Forecast System and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts suggest multiple weather systems could impact the region.
The upcoming pattern carries a signal for heavy rainfall, with totals potentially reaching two to five inches by next weekend. If these trends hold, concerns regarding river flooding may increase across central Indiana.
