SYRACUSE, Ind. (WISH) — A 21-year-old Carmel man’s body was recovered from a northern Indiana lake early Sunday morning, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said in a news release issued Tuesday.
Kosciusko County Dispatch received a call at 10:59 p.m. Saturday reporting Riley Thoren missing near the 11100 block of Northeast Wawasee Drive. That’s near a lakeside residential area called Enchanted Hills, located about 70 minutes southeast of South Bend.
Family members told dispatchers that they had not seen Thoren for about three hours since returning to their home.
Indiana conservation officers arrived to begin a search of the Lake Wawasee shoreline and surrounding areas.
At 2:22 a.m. Sunday, a Natural Resources diver found Thoren’s body in 3 feet of water. The cause of death was pending autopsy results.
