Perseid Meteor Shower 2025
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Perseid meteor shower is regarded as the best meteor shower of the year. Next week will be the peak on Tuesday, Aug. 12, and Wednesday, Aug. 13.
Unfortunately, this year, a near full moon will obscure some meteors. Usually, this shower produces 50-100 meteors an hour. Only 10-20 meteors will be seen this year, according to the American Meteor Society.
A radiant point is the place in the sky from which meteors will appear to originate. Find the constellation Perseus, and that point will be nearby. The radiant will be highest in the sky after midnight into the early morning hours, which is the best time to look.
