AVON, Ind. (WISH) — Avon Community Schools students will see some big changes at the start of the school year, the district said in a news release issued Tuesday.
Brief open houses have been set at each school receiving upgrades:
- Avon Middle School North: 10:10:30 a.m. July 23.
- Avon Middle School South: 3-4 p.m. Monday.
- Avon Middle School West: 3-5 p.m. July 22.
- Avon High School: 11:15 a.m.-noon Monday.
- Evergreen Elementary School: 1-2 p.m. Monday.
- Willow Elementary School: 1-2 p.m. Monday.
Here is an outline of the changes by school:
- Cedar, Maple, and River Birch elementary schools: New classroom additions to support K–5 transitions.
- Hickory, Pine Tree, and Sycamore elementary schools: Interior renovations to align with K–5 programming.
- Evergreen Elementary School: A new kindergarten wing to support the updated grade structure.
- Willow Elementary School: Renovations tailored to K–5 transition needs.
- Avon Middle School North and Avon Middle School South: Expanded and renovated facilities for grades 6–8.
- Avon Middle School West: A newly constructed school.
- Avon High School: Renovated and expanded to accommodate 4,000 students.
The first day of school for the new year will be July 30, the district calendar shows. The district has more than 10,700 students.
