RICHMOND, Ind. (WISH) — A man has been arrested in connection to a drive-by shooting in Richmond, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
No one was hurt in the Wednesday afternoon shooting of an occupied home, which had damage from the bullets, the sheriff’s office said in a news release issued late Thursday afternoon.
Gabriel “Ben” Howe, 21, of Richmond, was arrested. Online court records on Thursday night did not show a pending case for Howe.
The shooting happened along Toschlog Road, an area with homes south of U.S. 40 and southwest of downtown Richmond.
A witness reported seeing a long gun with a bayonet extending from the back of a white SUV open fire on the home.
Surveillance video showed the SUV fleeing the area.
Police later found the SUV and the driver, who initially lied to police about the shooter’s identity. The driver later told police that Howe had threatened to kill him and his dog if he revealed the truth. The driver’s identity was not shared in the release.
Police say more arrests are expected.
Wayne County, with 66,500 residents, is about a 65-minute drive east of downtown Indianapolis.
