WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — The Westfield Police Department ordered residents in the area to stay indoors and lock your doors while police search for a suspect that fired shots at an officer during a police chase.
Police are investigating the area of US 31 and 196th Street. A perimeter has been set from 191st to 196th streets and US 31 to Flippins Road.
A traffic stop turned into a police chase that ended when the suspect crashed his car. Police say the suspect fired multiple shots at the officers as he fled on foot.
The suspect remains at large.
Police say the suspect is a Black male with dreadlocks and is wearing a dark blue or black hoodie or sweatshirt.
