ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) — A jury in Madison County has found an Anderson man guilty of dealing methamphetamine. The trial lasted three days and finished up Tuesday.
Demond White, 52, faces a maximum sentence of 50 years because he is a habitual offender. Online court documents say White has dealt drugs before, and he has been in and out of court for years.
On Jan. 20, 2021, the Madison County Drug Task Force conducted a “controlled buy” of crystal meth. Investigators say they were using a confidential informant to purchase a half-ounce of meth from White for $300.
Police say the exchange happened at an apartment on East 7th Street in Anderson. After the informant handed over the money, White gave her a half-ounce of meth. She left the apartment and walked back to detectives who were nearby.
The meth she received from White later tested positive for methamphetamine, police say.
White’s sentencing is set for July 18 at 8:15 a.m.
