Aliyah Boston sets franchise record in Fever win over Storm

SEATTLE (WISH) — The Indiana Fever extended its winning streak to five games on Sunday with its 78-74 victory over the Seattle Storm.

The Fever won despite guard Caitlin Clark missing yet another game as she continues to deal with a groin injury.

Three Indiana players scored in double figures in the victory.

Forward Natasha Howard led the Fever in scoring with a game-high 21 points. She was efficient from the floor on Sunday, shooting 10-of-12 (83.3%) from the field.

Meanwhile, guard Sophie Cunningham finished with a season-high 17 points.

And then there was forward Aliyah Boston, who continues to light up the stat sheet game after game. On Sunday, she had 16 points and 12 rebounds, her sixth straight double-double.

In fact, Boston now holds the franchise record for most consecutive double-doubles with six. She passed Clark, who recorded five straight double-doubles last season.

“She’s (Boston) really been the key,” Fever head coach Stephanie White said following Sunday’s win. “She came into this league predominantly playing on the low block, getting a lot of post touches. When she was in college, and her rookie year. And then, you know, last year, her first year with Caitlin, playing a lot in the two man. And then this year, we’re asking her to be a facilitator as well.”

Boston is averaging 15.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game this season.

“She’s really the rock of our team,” White said. “You know, she’s even-keeled. She’s high IQ. Everybody trusts her, on both ends of the floor, and she’s our backbone.”

With the Fever’s recent hot streak, the team has improved to 17-12 overall this season, the fifth best record in the league as of Sunday night.

The Fever continues its current four-game road trip on Tuesday when it faces the Los Angeles Sparks. Tip-off is set for 10 p.m. EDT. The Fever has yet to beat the Sparks this season though, as Los Angeles won the two previous meetings between the two teams this year.
