Aliyah Boston excited for Caitlin Clark as ‘Coach C’ in All-Star Game

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The city is buzzing in Indianapolis for WNBA All-Star weekend.

The All-Star Game will be without Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, who injured her right groin in the Fever’s win against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. Clark announced that she will not be able to participate in the Three-Point Contest or the All-Star Game on Thursday.

But in the announcement, Clark said she’s “looking forward to helping Sandy (Brondello) coach our team to a win.”

Seeing Clark as a coach is something her Fever teammate Aliyah Boston is excited to see.

“Obviously, I’m bummed for Caitlin, but like I said, anytime you’re an All-Star and get the opportunity to play in the game, you just take advantage of that,” Boston said. “But we talked about it this morning and Caitlin was like, yeah, I’m on the sidelines. I’m coaching. I was like, ‘Coach C, okay, we’re going to see it.’ But I think it’s honestly going to be great.”

“Yeah, she needs to get that clipboard out,” Boston added. “We need to see what she’s got. I need her to set me like a flare. I need a flare three or something.”

Boston, as well as Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell, is on Team Clark for the All-Star Game.

Boston has been an All-Star in all three seasons of her career. Clark as been an All-Star in both seasons of her career. Mitchell has also made the All-Star Game in three straight seasons.

Seeing Clark as a coach is something that other All-Stars on Team Clark are looking forward to seeing as well.

“I think it’s going to be fun,” Mystics guard Sonia Citron said. “I don’t know what she’s like as a coach, so I’m definitely looking forward to it.”

The WNBA All-Star Game is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Eastern at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday night.
