ALEXANDRIA, Ind. (WISH) — Two suspects died and another remains in critical condition after an Alexandria police chase ended in a crash early Tuesday morning.
Chief Michael Montgomery with the Alexandria Police Department told News 8 the fatal crash happened around 2 a.m.
Officers tried to pull over a truck near Washington Street and North Park Avenue when the truck failed to stop, continuing into Anderson.
The driver of the truck was speeding southbound on Jackson Street when they lost control near 17th Street, striking a utility pole and two houses before coming to rest inverted on the road.
Three people were found inside the truck. One person died at the scene, while another occupant died later at a hospital. A third person was rushed to a hospital in Indianapolis in critical condition.
No one else was hurt in the incident.
Montgomery says the Anderson Police Department will conduct an outside agency investigation into the crash.
The victims’ names have not been released.
