GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) — A juvenile male was accidentally shot in the leg early Wednesday at a home on Heritage Lane in unincorporated Greenwood, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said.
The juvenile victim has since been released from a hospital and is recovering at home.
Deputies received a report of the shooting around 1:20 a.m. on Heritage Lane, which is part of the Heritage Trace housing subdivision located a few blocks south of the I-69 interchange for County Line Road.
The injured juvenile was found inside the home with an apparent gunshot wound to his leg and was taken to the hospital.
Two other juvenile males were present during the shooting and cooperated with the initial investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
The firearm was recovered from the home.
The names of the juveniles were not included in a news release from the sheriff’s office, and the release said no further information will be released at this time due to the involvement of juveniles.
