Father’s Day storms, then a cooler start to the week | June 21, 2026

TODAY

Father’s Day starts with a lot of clouds and a growing risk for showers and thunderstorms as the day wears on. Highs reach the upper 70s, with a light southeast breeze around 5 to 10 mph. The first half of the day may still offer some usable time, but the afternoon forecast is much less friendly, with severe weather possible later in the day and into the evening. Damaging winds and an isolated tornado are on the table, and any stronger storm could also drop very heavy rain in a hurry.

TONIGHT

This looks like the wettest and most concerning period. Showers and thunderstorms become likely, and some of that rain could be heavy enough to cause localized flooding. Lows hold near the mid 60s, with a southeast wind around 10 mph becoming west southwest overnight, with gusts up near 20 mph. If heavier rain bands set up over the same areas, water could pile up quickly, especially through the first half of the night.

TOMORROW

Showers remain likely, especially through the morning and early afternoon, before coverage gradually starts to back off later in the day. Highs reach the mid 70s, with a west wind around 10 mph becoming north in the afternoon, with gusts up near 20 mph. It is a cooler and less comfortable day than the weekend, and outdoor plans will still need to work around rain for a good part of the day.

TOMORROW NIGHT

Any leftover shower chance fades early, then skies trend partly cloudy overnight. Lows fall into the upper 50s, with a north breeze around 5 to 10 mph easing later. Cooler and less humid air starts to settle in, and weather conditions become much easier to work with by daybreak Tuesday.

TUESDAY

Partial sunshine returns with a more comfortable feel. Highs reach the upper 70s, with a light west to northwest breeze around 5 to 10 mph. This looks like one of the better days of the stretch for being outside, with lower humidity and no major weather issues in the way.

TUESDAY NIGHT

Partly cloudy and seasonably cool, with lows near 60 and light wind. Dry weather holds through the night, and this looks like a quiet setup with no meaningful travel or outdoor concerns.

WEDNESDAY

Mostly sunny and pleasant for much of the day, then a low-end chance for a late shower or thunderstorm begins to creep back in. Highs reach around 80, with a light south to southwest breeze around 5 to 10 mph. Most of the day still looks dry and usable, but conditions may turn a little less certain toward late afternoon and evening.

7 DAY FORECAST

After the Father’s Day storm threat and the widespread rain Sunday night into Monday, the cleanest stretch comes Monday night through much of Wednesday with lower humidity and quieter weather. The biggest concern in the near term is the potential for heavy rainfall Sunday afternoon into early Monday, with 1 to 3 inches possible in parts of central Indiana and locally higher amounts where storms repeat. After that, temperatures stay pretty seasonable, mainly in the 70s to near 80, before lower-end storm chances begin to return later Wednesday and into the back half of the week.
