FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WISH) — A man is dead after being hit by a car Saturday morning in Fort Wayne.
According to a release from the Fort Wayne Police Department, at 2:20 a.m., officers were called to the intersection of Hanna Street and East Sherwood Terrace on reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.
When officers arrived, they found a man lying in the intersection. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say multiple witnesses came forward and told officers that the involved vehicle fled immediately after the crash. Officers searched the area and quickly located the suspect.
Preliminary information indicates that speed and alcohol were contributing factors.
Police did not provide any further information regarding the incident and those involved.
