INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Rain chances return tonight into Friday but the start of the weekend continues to look pretty good.

THURSDAY NIGHT:

Mostly cloudy with a chance of a showers. Some thunder is possible during the evening. Lows will be in the 40s.

FRIDAY:

Mostly cloudy skies are expected. While there is a chance for at least some rain all day long, the highest odds and most coverage will likely be later in the PM and during the evening. Some thunder could also occur but no severe weather is anticipated. There very well could be some rain at IMS for the Grand Prix qualifying. Highs in the mid to upper 60s.

FRIDAY NIGHT:

Mostly cloudy. Rain exits. Lows in the 50s.

SATURDAY:

Early clouds and perhaps a few lingering showers will give way to more sun as the day wears on. Warmer highs in the low to mid 70s can be expected in the afternoon.  Conditions should be really good for the Sonsio Grand Prix at IMS, the Fever home opener, and the Indy Eleven match in the evening. A front slipping in from the north during the evening could also spark a few showers late.

SUNDAY:

More clouds than sun is the forecast for Mother’s Day.   Scattered showers are also possible. Highs look to be in the low to mid 60s.

NEXT WEEK:

Below average temperatures appear likely overall with some additional rain & thunder chances midweek.  There are signs of a possible pattern flip by the middle of the month which would allow milder air to return to Central Indiana.
