Fog and rain to dominate central Indiana weather through Friday evening | Nov. 20, 2025

Marcus’ 4 a.m. Thursday forecast

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Dreary weather continues in central Indiana today with fog and low clouds, while rain is expected to return late today through Friday.

Today:

Extensive cloud cover will limit our chance to warm up again today, with highs expected to rise only a few degrees from our overnight lows in the low to mid-40s, reaching the upper 40s to low 50s later today.

Rain returns Friday:

Rain is anticipated to become widespread Friday as a system moves in from the central Plains. Thunderstorms should be limited to areas around and south of the Ohio River for Friday afternoon. That said, a few downpours can’t be ruled out across our area during the day.

Meanwhile, highs will remain above average for this time of year despite the lack of sunshine. Afternoon temperatures will hover in the mid-50s on Friday.

By Friday evening, moisture transport shifts westward, tapering heavier rain even as the boundary lingers near the Ohio River, with rain ending by Saturday morning.

Additional rainfall amounts will range from 0.50″-1.0″ across central Indiana, with higher amounts anticipated in southern Indiana.

Weekend forecast:

Seasonable and quiet weather is expected Sunday into early next week, with another system bringing Gulf moisture northward Monday night into Tuesday.

Big changes next week:

A cold front is expected to cross Tuesday night, bringing breezy and much cooler conditions into Thanksgiving Day, with below-normal temperatures and a low-end chance of light snow.
