INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man with gunshot wounds died at a hospital after a shooting was reported about 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Southeastern Avenue and South Emerson Avenue, Indianapolis police say.
The man, whose identity has not yet been publicly shared, died at Community East Hospital, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said in a notification issued just after 12:15 p.m. Sunday.
IMPD officers initially responded to a report of a person shot just after 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the 5000 block of Southeastern Avenue. Upon arrival, officers were unable to locate any victims at the scene.
Shortly thereafter, officers were sent to the hospital and found the man who had arrived with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
IMPD officers later identified a location on Southeastern Avenue as the potential crime scene related to the shooting.
No additional information was immediately shared. A public information officer from IMPD was on the way to the scene to provide details.
