IMPD releases bodycam footage of west side police shooting
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) has released new video footage of a police shooting that occurred in July, resulting in an officer being injured and a suspect being killed.
The incident took place at an apartment complex on the city’s west side, where an officer was following a suspected stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, four suspects exited the car, and the officer attempted to detain the driver.
Tyson Reach moved to the front of the car and shot the officer.
IMPD reported that the officer sustained three gunshot wounds, with a fourth round striking the officer’s ballistic vest. Reach was taken to the hospital, where he died a few weeks later.
The other three suspects involved in the incident were arrested, and no other officers were injured during the confrontation.
