JASPER, Ind. (WISH) — Indiana State Police (ISP), with the assistance of the Spencer County Sheriff’s Department, arrested five people for various drug charges after a several-month investigation.
After receiving multiple complaints and tips from the public, ISP investigators and Spencer County deputies conducted a months-long investigation into Brian Harrison, of Grandview, Indiana. Harrison is on parole for a prior dealing in methamphetamine conviction.
On Aug. 13, ISP Drug Enforcement Section investigators and Spencer County deputies conducted surveillance of Harrison. Troopers located Harrison at a business in Reo, Indiana, and observed a suspected drug transaction. The transaction took place within a school zone. A Spencer County deputy conducted a traffic stop near Rockport, and determined that the driver, Charles Parker, had just left the same business Harrison was at.
The deputy observed signs of criminal activity, and found Parker to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine after a search.
Probable cause was established for dealing methamphetamine. An ISP trooper and a Spencer County deputy conducted a traffic stop on Harrison. Harrison and his passenger, Haylee Moog, was arrested for dealing methamphetamine and transported to the Spencer County Jail.
On Aug. 15, after further investigation, it was discovered that Ora Murphy was assisting Harrison. An ISP trooper and a Spencer County deputy located Murphy in Warrick County. Approximately 32.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, and a controlled substance belonging to Harrison were found. Murphy was arrested and taken to the Spencer County Jail.
On Tuesday, a Spencer County deputy received information that Robert Payton was also involved in drug activity with Harrison. Payton is on probation for prior dealing in methamphetamine charges. Investigators located Payton at his residence. Payton was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and marijuana. Payton was arrested and transported to the Spencer County Jail.
Harrison was preliminarily charged with dealing in methamphetamine – 10 grams or more, dealing in methamphetamine – 1 gram and 5 grams w/enhancing circumstance, possession of methamphetamine over 28 grams, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.
Moog was preliminarily charged with dealing in methamphetamine – 10 grams or more, dealing in methamphetamine – 1 gram and 5 grams w/enhancing circumstance, possession of methamphetamine over 28 grams, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.
Parker was preliminarily charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Murphy was preliminarily charged with possession of methamphetamine over 28 grams, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana.
Payton was preliminarily charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.
